Information about Fuyang

Fuyang is situated in the northwest of Anhui Province, which neighbours Bozhou and Huainan in the east and is bordered by Henan Province in the north and west. The West Lake of Yingzhou which is 15 kilometers (9 miles) west of the city proper is becoming a top attraction in northwestern Anhui. The scenic area contains a stele forest, old style buildings, and garden buildings, all of which blend perfectly with the surrounding natural scenery. Fuyang is a classical example of a traditional southern Chinese city. It is next to the Fuchun River and surrounded by mountains from three sides. Wenfeng Pagoda is a landmark structure standing on Yingzhou Lu, the central artery of downtown. It was built in 1796 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Like the Kuixing (the god of literature) Tower at the southeast corner of the city wall of old city zone, Wenfeng Pagoda is also a Fengshui (Geomantic) tower.
